The Club Marine app has been recognised with an insurance industry award for innovation at a recent awards ceremony held in Sydney.
The app was named as Innovation of the Year at the 2016 Australian Insurance Awards, hosted by the RFI Group and AB+F.
Launched earlier this year, the Club Marine app provides users with a range of boating-related services and information for members and non-members alike.
Commenting on the win, CEO Simon McLean said the launch of the app came about because of a gap in the market for a single source of information that would help boat owners.
“Research highlighted that boat owners were using multiple apps and websites to access important information including weather alerts, records of licenses and trips, safety information, checklists and key insurance services,” he said.
“The Club Marine app is an insurance and lifestyle app that provides boat owners with access to valuable, real-time information such as weather alerts, safety tips and trip planners.
“But more than that it helps them control their boating and insurance needs from managing their policies in a single location, lodging a claim or on-demand access to certificates of currency.”
Within four months, the app has been downloaded more than 8,000 times, has recorded 138,000 visits, received a 3.2-star Google Play rating, sent over 400 severe-weather alerts and recorded nearly 1,000 online transactions.
“We have received very positive feedback from users across the marine and insurance industry and we have been able to help people avoid damage or loss to their boats with our new severe weather alert. I am proud of how the app has been able to help customers during events, because helping is truly at the heart of everything we do,” said McLean.
